Herbal Medicine Walk

LCC Conservation Area Kingston, ON

Members Only.  Explore Little Cataraqui Creek with local indigenous artist, teacher, storyteller, and herbalist Onogottay.  Raised in the bush by traditional elders, Onogottay will walk through remedies derived from the plants and shrubs of this region.  Instructor: Onagottay.  Location: LCC Conservation Area.  $10/member

Learn & Play – Block Printing on Fabric

The Seniors Centre 56 Francis St, Kingston, ON

Use beautiful block print designs to create a custom printed fabric in this workshop. Explore colour palettes, printing techniques and learn how to make a repeat pattern. Supplies included.  Instructor: Jessica Trotter.  $110/person.  Members only.

Learn & Play – Introduction to Embroidery

The Seniors Centre 56 Francis St, Kingston, ON

Learn a variety of stitches – back stitch, chain stitch, french knot – and begin working on your own embroidery sampler as you practise for your next project.  Use your new skills to add that extra personal touch to your clothes, handmade gifts, or whatever you’d like!  Instructor: Jessica Trotter.  $75/person. Learn & Play – Cartooning

Seniors Centre Loyalist (Edith Rankin Memorial United Church) 4080 Bath Road, Kingston, ON

Learn the basic elements of drawing a cartoon face from a professional visual artist – how to make eyes, noses, and mouths. Armed with these skills, create a variety of cartoon characters, design backgrounds, and create a short story board. Designed for those new to cartooning. Learn & Play – Gel Transfer

Transfer the image from a photo onto another medium, to create a unique piece of art. Gain hands-on experience with making a gel transfer, revealing it after it has dried, and turning it into a finished painting. Create a family memory with your grandchild.  Make a large three-dimensional “under the sea” creature using paint, coloured pencil, markers, oil pastels, and more. Camp4Adults – Gouache Studio

Gouache is an opaque form of watercolour that can be layered to produce a number of effects.  Learn the properties, from laying a flat wash to colour mixing, detailing, and dry brush.
